02

Set a size or format

Choose pixels, a KB target, a file type or a print size.

03

Preview and save

Compare the real output, then download it to your device.

A PRACTICAL GUIDE

Use the image tool above

DPI connects pixel dimensions to a physical print size. Set the desired density in More control, then enter inches or centimetres to calculate output pixels.

What to check before you save

Changing only a metadata number does not add detail. If you keep the same pixels and raise DPI, the implied print size becomes smaller. JPG and PNG exports store the chosen density; WebP does not in this tool.

Three quick steps

  1. Choose the image from your device; the browser reads it locally.
  2. Set the required dimensions, output format and optional file-size target.
  3. Review the actual encoded file size and preview, then download a separate copy.

Keep the source requirement in view

Upload forms and publishing platforms can ask for several things at once: pixel width and height, a maximum file size, a format, a crop or print resolution. Satisfy each requirement independently. Still shows measured bytes and output dimensions, but the receiving service’s current instructions decide whether a file is accepted.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

What does DPI stand for?

Dots per inch describes print density. Digital displays are usually better described by pixel dimensions.

Does 300 DPI make a low-resolution photo sharper?

No. It can set a print density, but it cannot recover missing pixels or source detail.

Which formats keep the chosen DPI?

Still writes print density metadata to JPG and PNG exports. WebP keeps its pixel dimensions but not this DPI metadata.

What should I check after change image dpi?

Review the preview, dimensions, output format and measured file size. Confirm that they match the receiving service’s current instructions.
